Item Introduction
Reverse-edged (sakabato) katana did not historically exist in Japan. It was an idea that was popularized in the anime by the character Rurouni Kenshin who used a reversed-edged sword to avoid killing his opponents.
This sakabato is made of through-hardened 1095 steel with wire-brushed hamon. The tsuba, fuchi, kashira and menuki is made of brass and depicts a hawk or an eagle. The tsuka is made of hardwood with red, rayskin panels and blue, synthetic silk ito. The saya is made of hardwood with clear, lacquer paint making the wood grain visible.
