Item Introduction

One of our newest designs, this katana exhibits black iron fittings (tsuba, fuchi, kashira, menuki) studded with white and beige flowers made of seashells. The blade is a shinogi zukuri monosteel (maru construction) made of differentially-hardened 1095 high-carbon steel which has a great edge-retention. The beautiful blade also has a midare or irregular pattern hamon as a result of its differential hardening. The part of the saya near the kurikata is wrapped in genuine, unpolished rayskin in brown lacquer of similar color to the synthetic silk ito. The tsuka is fully wrapped in white, genuine rayskin. Fully-wrapping the tsuka in rayskin gives it more durability as compared to when it is just panel-wrapped.
