The Walking Dead is a popular television series based on a comic book series of the same name. The series which started airing in 2010, features a post-zombie apocalypse world where humans struggle to survive against zombie attacks and aggression from other humans.  

Michonne is a character in the series, well known for her katana which she uses to defend herself and her companions from zombies and other aggressors.

The Ryansword Michonne's Katana is a battle-ready replica of the katana in the series. The blade is made of folded steel with a beautiful grain pattern. The saya is made of hardwood wrapped in brown, synthetic leather and fitted with an adjustable leather sling. The tsuka and the upper half of the saya is wrapped with white, synthetic silk ito.

The koiguchi, kojiri and kurigata are polished buffalo horns. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira are made of brass.

Tamahagane, which in Japanese literally means "jewel steel" or "precious steel", is a type of steel made in the Japanese traditional way. Tamahagane is made by smelting iron sand in a clay furnace called "tatara" and mixing it with charcoal to produce steel with various carbon content. This very laborious process takes as much as 3 days. After the smelting process, the tatara is broken and the steel bloom or "kera" is broken and swordsmiths segregate and collect the steels with various carbon contents.

Making a katana from tamahagane requires high level of expertise from the swordsmith. Swordsmiths will laminate the different types of steel collected from the kera to create a sword which has a hard edge, soft core and springy sides.

Ryan1180 is a katana or more specifically a handachi with a blade made of Chinese tamahagane. A handachi or "half-tachi" is a blade with tachi style fittings on the tsuka but has a saya that of a katana. The blade of this sword is hazuya-jizuya polished to bring out the beauty of the blade. It has a sugu or straight hamon and the hada of the blade can be clearly seen. The habaki, seppa, fuchi, menuki and kabuto-gane are all made of chromed brass while the tsuba is silver-plated. The tsuka is made of hardwood and fully wrapped with one-piece genuine rayskin. The saya is made of hardwood and painted with high quality black piano painting. Naginata were used by the samurai, foot soldiers (ashigaru), warrior monks (sohei) and female warriors from noble families (onna-bugeisha). Its long reach makes it an effective weapon against mounted enemy or cavalry and against opponents armed with a sword.

Ryan821 is a naginata with a 1095 high carbon steel blade in unokubi zukuri geometry. The hamon is hand-abrasived. Due to size limitation on shipping packages, the handle of this naginata is shortened similar to the design of a katana's tsuka. It is wrapped with rayskin and synthetic silk ito. The saya is made of hardwood and partially wrapped with genuine rayskin. Buffalo horn is used at koiguchi. Tsuba, fuchia and kashira are made of iron with flower and bufferfly design. The fittings are changeable.

The blade is differentially-hardened with a beautiful notare or wave-pattern hamon. The area between hamon and back is hazuya-polished.

Ryan1322 is a katana with a shinogi zukurigeometry. Its blade is made of folded 1095 high carbon steel. The blade has no groove and the folding of the blade during forging produces a very distinct and beautiful raindrop pattern. This is different from the appearance of the usual folded steel which has a wavy hada. The hada on this blade looks like irregularly-shaped ripples.

The tsuka is made of hardwood wrapped with red, rayskin panels and black synthetic silk ito. The red saya is hardwood with grooves and has a buffalo horn koiguchi and black-brown sageo.
