Katana

This sword is specially designed for outdoor survival, plain but functional. The blade is made of 1095 high carbon steel. It was hand forged by fully following ancient process to remove impurities, which makes the blade strong and flexible. The blade is full tang with hand engraved Mei(signature), it is fixed into tsuka(handle) by copper rivets. The sword is equipped with plain wood saya, nylon sageo/ito and iron tsuba. It is a very good choice for outdoor activities, such as hunting, bushwalking, jungle adventure and field survival, etc. It is very strong for cutting on tameshigiri, bamboos, bones, iron things(wire and can), etc.

Tamahagane, which in Japanese literally means "jewel steel" or "precious steel", is a type of steel made in the Japanese traditional way. Tamahagane is made by smelting iron sand in a clay furnace called "tatara" and mixing it with charcoal to produce steel with various carbon content. This very laborious process takes as much as 3 days. After the smelting process, the tatara is broken and the steel bloom or "kera" is broken and swordsmiths segregate and collect the steels with various carbon contents.

Making a blade from tamahagane requires high level of expertise from the swordsmith. Swordsmiths will laminate the different types of steel collected from the kera to create a sword which has a hard edge, soft core and springy sides.

Ryan858 is a katana with a blade made of Chinese tamahagane. The blade of this sword is hazuya-jizuya polished to bring out the beauty of the blade. It takes a polisher several weeks to do the entire polishing process. The blade has choji hamon, hadori polish is done to make the hamon stand out against surrounding areas. The tsuka is made of hardwood, fully wrapped with one-piece genuine rayskin and leather ito. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira are made of iron. The saya is made of hardwood and wrapped with bamboo. Ryan1335 is a beautiful blade with a deep koshi sori curve and shinogi zukuri geometry. The blade is made of differentially-hardened 1095 steel with no bo-hi and designed for heavy targets. The sori is 2.8cm at the deepest point and the very appealing kissaki measures 5.5 cm.

The tsuba, fuchi, kashira are all made of iron. The seppa and habaki are made of brass but chromed to give it a silvery appearance. The tsuka is made of hardwood fully-wrapped with black, real rayskin and reinforced with cotton ito. Ryan217 is an elegant-looking but deadly katana. The blade is made of differentially-hardened 1095 carbon steel and finely-polished revealing a beautiful natural hamon. Being made of 1095, this blade is capable of handling hard targets. The tsuka is hardwood with genuine rayskin panels in red lacquer and wrapped with black, synthetic silk ito. The fittings are all made of brass and have an intricate, ryu or dragon theme. The saya is made of hardwood with red varnish and inlayed with mother-of-pearl design. The saya has a clear lacquer coat to give it a glossy finish. The koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri are made of black, buffalo horn.

The kurigata, kojiri and koiguchi are polished buffalo horns. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira are made of iron. The sword is fully customisable.
