Ryan817 is a replica of the sword of Capt. Nathan Algren, the main character in the 2003 American film "The Last Samurai". The plot of the movie centers on Nathan Algren, a captain in the US Cavalry Regiment who is constantly haunted by the atrocities committed by his group during the American-Indian wars. He was recruited by the Japanese to help train the modernized Japanese Imperial Army and quell a rebellion of traditional samurais. Capt. Algren ended up embracing the way of life and principles of the samurai and then fighting with them against the Japanese government.

Ryansword's replica of Capt. Algren's katana has a shinogi zukuri blade in honsanmai lamination. The edge is made of 1095 high carbon steel and the sides made of folded 1060 steel. The blade is differentially-hardened with a beautiful, natural hamon and hada. It has a bohi running from the habaki to the kissaki, making the blade lighter. The tsuka is made of hardwood with white, rayskin panels and wrapped with black, synthetic silk ito. The tsuba, fuchi, kashira and menuki are made of glossy, black, zinc alloys while the habaki and seppa are made of brass. The saya is matte black. True to the movie, the blade has a laser etched kanji. In the movie, it was said that the kanji means "I belong to the warrior, in who the old ways have joined the new.", however some argue that the kanji really means "Since the ancient times to the present, God is with those who serve with dignity and honor."

Odachi are difficult to produce because their length makes traditional heat treatment more complicated: The longer a blade is, the more difficult (and expensive) it is to heat the whole blade to a homogeneous temperature, both for annealing and to reach the hardening temperature. The quenching process then needs a bigger quenching medium because uneven quenching might lead to warping the blade.

This katana is a replica of a sword from the movie 47 Ronin which was released in 2013. The main plot of the movie was based on actual events that happened in 18th century Japan. The story centers on the plan of 47 leaderless samurai (ronin) to avenge their feudal lord Asano Naganori by killing a court official named Kira Yoshinaka who caused the former to commit seppuku or ritual suicide. In the movie, these magical swords were given by the Tengu, mystical  humanoid creatures with birdlike features. The magical swords were used by the 47 to exact their revenge upon Kira and restore their honor.

The 47 Ronin katana is a blade which differs from the usual concept of a katana. The saya has flat, angled surfaces compared to the curved sides of a traditional saya. Instead of a kurikata, it has a metal kaeritsuno, shaped like a bird's claw, to hold the sageo. The tsuka is made of hardwood and has no fuchi, kashira and menuki. Only the middle portion of the tsuka is wrapped with ito. The shinogi zukuri blade is made of folded 1060 carbon steel with a beautiful grain pattern.

Conan, most commonly known as Conan the Barbarian was a fictional character created by writer Robert E. Howard in 1932. Conan was a sword-welding hero popularized in the 1982 and 1984 films which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and in 2011 by Jason Momoa.

Ryansword's "Conan the Destroyer" sword is a replica of the sword used in the Conan films. It is a sturdily-built sword with a blade made of 1095 high carbon steel.
