$380.00In Chinese language, the word "dao" usually refers to any single-edged blade. Single-edged blades had been used in China as early as the Shang Dynasty and the dao has taken several variations throughout the different dynasties.
The Qing Dao is the single-edged blade used during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). It was a common cavalry and infantry weapon characterized by a single-edge, slightly-curved and single-handed blade. It is a sturdy weapon which is good for chopping and slashing. The slight curve also makes it effective in the thrust.
The Yanling Qing Dao has a beautiful blade made of folded steel. The scabbard is hardwood with red laquer and brass ornaments. The handle is hardwood wrapped with black cotton cord for additional grip. The disk-shaped handguard is made of brass.

Inscribed bamboo-slips are on the top end of the scabbard, "the Art of War" is engraved on it. Water, mountains and the Great Wall are the patterns at the end o the scabbard. -

The handguard and ornaments in the scabbard are also made of brass, hand-carved. The motif is from Han Dynasty. The scabbard is made of ebony, a type of black high-density wood with a fine texture.

The first jians were mostly made of bronze and then progressed to iron and then steel with advances in metallurgy. The jian's form varied slightly during the different dynasties in China but with the main feature of being double-edged and straight retained.
This product is medium size, a beautiful reproduction of the sword in the Han dynasty (B.C 202-A.D 220). The blade is made of folded steel and octahedral, folding grains are clearly visible. The handle is designed to be held by one hand and is made of hardwood wrapped in red and black nylon cord. The handle ends in a flat, handmade brass pommel. The handguard is handmade, hollow cutting. It’s brass as well as the ornaments in the scabbard. The motif on fittings is from Han Dynasty. The scabbard is made of ebony, a type of high-density wood with beautiful vein. The fitings are hand-carved, made of brass and plated with real gold. The handguard is Yin Yang fish design, the fittings use four gods design. Four Gods are the mythological creatures in the Chinese constellations. They are the Azure Dragon(Qing Long) of the East, the Vermilion Bird(Zhu Que) of the South, the White Tiger(Bai Hu) of the West, and the Black Turtle(Xuan Wu) of the North. Each one of them represents a direction and a season. Xuan Wu is a turtle ebtwined together with a snake, in ancient China, the tortoise and the snake were thought to be spiritual creatures symbolizing longevity. It took 6 months to make the sword. -
